This workshop is designed to share tangible tips for students and parents to find scholarships and write scholarship essays. This workshop is strictly for students in the Class of 2024.

“Becoming an Adjunct Professor” Online Course

Join Dr. Candace Chambers as she discusses methods of securing adjunct professor positions! This course is ideal for professionals who would like to teach in a part-time capacity. It is also beneficial for people who do not have teaching experience. Dr. Chambers discusses how to find positions and how to tailor documents such as a resume and cover letter to position requirements.

Dr. Candace Chambers is the CEO of Educational Writing Services. She is currently a Lecturer of Professional Writing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has secured adjunct positions at 6 colleges and universities and works with professionals to secure positions as well.

Paying for College Without Debt

This interactive workshop informs students on how to find institutional, state, national, and local scholarships. It also teaches students on how to maximize their scholarships through their involvement in high school and a strategic way of choosing schools that give them the most bang for their buck.

Why College? Preparing 9th-11th Grade Students

This interactive workshop guides students in discussing their intended next steps after high school graduation. We cover the importance of furthering one’s education after high school and the various methods of reaching these goals. Lastly, students will identify majors which align with their interests and natural strengths and learn of ways to prepare early for college admissions/scholarships.

Setting My Child Up for Success: Parent Workshop

This interactive workshop teaches parents tools and strategies for their students to attend college— preferably debt-free. Parents will learn how their students can prepare early for the college admissions process through their involvement in high school and test scores.

Snagging Scholarships— The “Write Way”

This interactive workshop teaches students how to write scholarship essays. We review the conventions of an essay, brainstorming techniques, and creative approaches to writing the essay. Lastly, students will review effective scholarship essays.

Admissions Avenue: Navigating the Admissions Process

This interactive workshop guides 12th grade students through the admissions process. We will review key information, including the Common Application, financial aid, recommendations, and deadlines. Students will have a plan of action of what to do each month of the admissions process. This workshop is usually conducted in a 5-workshop series format from August to December, but can also be conducted as an individual workshop.

We’re Headed to College! College-Pre Series Program

This program features 5 workshops held once a month which cover the admissions and scholarship process. The workshops are designed for 10th-11th grade students. The topics include choosing college/universities, finding scholarships, writing admissions/scholarship essays, improving test scores/grade point averages, and choosing a major.

Workshops are generally one hour, and are led by Dr. Candace Chambers. Organizations/Schools can also order, Write Your Way to a Successful Scholarship Essay and The ABCs of College Admissions and Scholarships, which can accompany the workshops. Also, for in-person workshops, travel and accommodations will be separate from the workshop fee. Rates are dependent upon the modality [in-person or virtual] of the workshops.
